Jacqueline Fernandez, a Sri Lankan actor hailing from Bahrain's Manama was raised in a multicultural family. Jacqueline Fernandez's mom Kim and her father Elroy are both Malaysians. She has two younger brothers as well as an older sister. Due to unrest in Lanka, her parents were forced to relocate to Bahrain in the late 1980s. Her schooling was completed at Bahrain and she won the Scholarship to the University of Sydney. There she graduated with an Media and Communications degree. A lover of cultures and languages, she joined Berlitz Language School in which she studied Spanish and improved her French and Arabic. In 2006 she was named the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March, 2006 and also competed at Miss Universe 2006. After winning Miss Sri Lanka in 2006 Padukone started her career in the world of television. She hosted the show Lanka Business Report which focused on business in Sri Lanka. Padukone is the child of and badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew up in Bangalore and came from Copenhagen. In her teens she played in badminton championships at national level. However, she left the sport to pursue a career as fashion designer. Padukone was born in Mangalore, India. Her mother tongue Konkani is her origin. Padukone is a village within the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend before retiring in the 1980s. Her mother, a travel agency, also hails from the village.
